Plans Change!

Well, some things didn't work out quite as well as I had hoped to get blankets to Alabama this weekend, but I'm hoping we will be able to get some there in the near future.  So, if you didn't get your blankets finished up you can still send them!  Check out the Resources page for where you can send your blankets or other donations.  Hopefully I'll have a new date soon!

Where to Send Your Blanket!

I have finally worked out the details for a donation center for any blankets/water/donations you would like to mail or drop off!  Yay!  The Church at College Station (a.k.a. my church) is going to be that place!

So, if you are having to ship your blankets, send them to:

Jennifer Clark
c/o The Church at College Station
1225 College Station Rd.
Athens, GA 30605

If you are local and want to drop donations off, we're the only church on College Station Rd.  However if you're a landmark person, we're near Polo Club (in fact their sign is right in front of the church) and La Fiesta.

As always, if you have questions about this or anything else, email me at WrappedWithHope@hotmail.com

Tentative Date!

Hi all!  Good news!  I have someone that may be able to take some blankets to Alabama!  Still working out the details, but I wanted to give everyone a general idea of when we will need blankets by.  For this trip, I will need to receive the blankets by May 17, 2011.

However, if you can't make this deadline, don't worry!  I am hoping to personally go to Alabama in early June and want to take blankets with me.  I would just love to be able to send some down ahead of that trip if possible!

If you are not in the Athens, Ga area, I realize you  may need to ship your blanket, email me for those details (see email address below).  I will be in the Charlotte, NC area this weekend and hopefully back the weekend of the 20th.  The weekend of the 20th will obviously be after the May 17th deadline, but any donations that weekend will go towards the June trip!

If you have any questions, email me at WrappedWithHope@hotmail.com

Thank-you so much and God bless!

Some Beginning Thoughts...

If you are here, reading this blog and considering helping let me first say THANK YOU!  There is no way this could happen without you and friends who have been supporting me in so many ways.  This whole project was a huge leap of faith for me.  I was sure that when I started sharing the idea people would tell me it was foolish, that there were more important things that needed to be tended to first - food, water, shelter.  Obviously the physical needs of these people need to be met, which is why we will also be accepting donations of water (working out details for a donation drop off). But along with the physical need is an emotional need.  I realize a blanket will not solve the emotional anguish these people are going through, but I do hope it can be a small first step on the road to recovery.

This whole project has put me completely outside of my comfort zone (which is good) and from the start I have been praying Ephesians 3:20, "Now glory be to God!  By His mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope." (NLT)  I would love to see this project take off and become bigger than the small dreams I have for it now.

As much as I would love for you to donate blankets, water and even help financially, I covet your prayers even more!  Like I've said, this is something very new to me.  I've never really organized anything, so this is a huge undertaking!  Right now the biggest thing that needs prayer is making contacts in the affected areas.  While I could just blindly drive to Alabama (or whichever area) and hope to find a place to distribute the blankets, I would much rather have a specific destination!  I have people helping me with this, so I'm hoping we will begin making progress soon.

Thanks so much for reading and make sure to keep checking back, hopefully we'll be able to update details very soon!
